Big Tech Needs A BIG Change.

Friend,

While we’re still reeling from the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision, we’re already seeing its harrowing consequences. In the wake of Roe’s repeal, tech companies publicly pledged to protect their users from prosecution. But after last week’s story of Meta turning a Nebraska teen’s private messages over to police to prosecute her for an abortion, it’s clear those early promises were empty.

It’s time that we hold Big Tech accountable for its actions. Through S.T.O.P.’s latest campaign, we’re partnering with tech workers to demand that Big Tech correct course immediately. Tech employees have a long history of standing up for what’s right, from unionizing to canceling contracts with the Pentagon. Once inspired by their employers’ visions for a better world, they can now see how data drives incarceration, deportations, and family separation. And together, we can stop it.

As social media giants, data brokers, and smartphone apps hand over – or sell – our data to police and ICE, Big Tech’s reckless behavior puts women, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, and immigrant communities at ever greater risk. But we can channel our anger and disappointment into meaningful change – today.

Join our fight to end these discriminatory systems of mass surveillance. And if you don’t work in tech yourself, please help us get the word out by sharing our campaign widely. Every dollar donated helps us build a better Big Tech.

In solidarity,
Sam Van Doran
Development Director
