Think Quick, Don't Click

Summary

You’ve probably seen them popping up everywhere…you may have even clicked a few. But you probably didn’t know that the QR codes that are increasingly inescapable are also a threat to your privacy and security.

That’s why S.T.O.P. launched “Think Quick, Don’t Click,” a series of fake QR codes across New York. Instead of the promised comedy shows, trivia contests, arcades, and menus, these QR codes take unsuspecting New Yorkers to our newest education websites.

At the start of the pandemic, we thought touch-free menus were safer, but now we know they’re a distraction from mitigating the threat of an airborne virus. And we also know that the reliance on QR codes hurt restaurant revenues at a time when many struggled to keep the lights on. Switching back to more profitable and privacy-protective paper menus is a win-win!

Join us in pushing back against the growth of QR codes by asking for a paper menu the next time you’re out, or maybe even handing out a few QR codes of your own.
