S.T.O.P. Introduces 2024-2025 Legal Fellows

Introducing our 2024-2025 Legal Fellows!
Friend,

We’re thrilled to introduce S.T.O.P.'s newest Legal Fellows joining us for the 2024-2025 term! At the cutting-edge of anti-surveillance advocacy, our legal fellowships include a unique mix of criminal, civil, and administrative work. Fellows also complete at least one significant research project during their tenure.

Anya Weinstock
Legal Fellow

Anya is a Legal Fellow with S.T.O.P. She received her J.D. from Stanford Law School and B.A. from Wesleyan University. She is interested in privacy rights, technology law, and international human rights.

Darío Maestro
Senior Legal Fellow

Darío Maestro serves as a Senior Legal Fellow at S.T.O.P. He started his career as an international lawyer, representing both states and corporate clients in dozens of international litigations and arbitrations, before eventually specializing in antitrust and privacy litigation. Prior to joining S.T.O.P., Darío was an associate at Covington & Burling LLP in New York and Foley Hoag LLP in Washington, DC. Earlier in his career, Darío served as legal counsel to UNHR in Geneva, under the guidance of former U.S. Ambassador Eric Richardson, and as a law clerk for the Ministry of Interior of Spain.

Jason Taper
Legal Fellow

Jason Taper is a Legal Fellow with S.T.O.P. through the Justice Catalyst fellowship. Jason is a graduate of New York University School of Law and the University of Texas at Austin. Before law school, Jason worked as an interfaith organizer in his home state of Texas. Seeing technology used to suppress activist movements inspired him to become a more effective advocate as a movement lawyer. While at NYU and during his law school summers, he interned in the White House, the Brennan Center for Justice, the Legal Aid Society of New York City, and the Clark County (NV) Office of the Public Defender.

Vibha Kannan
Legal Fellow

Vibha Kannan is a Legal Fellow with S.T.O.P. through the Justice Catalyst fellowship. She is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the New York University School of Law, where she interned at the National Immigration Project of the National Lawyers Guild and served as a student advocate in the NYU Immigrant Rights Clinic.

We can’t wait to see what Anya, Darío, Jason, and Vibha will accomplish this year in the fight against discriminatory surveillance in New York and beyond.
In solidarity,
David Siffert
Legal Director
