*|FNAME|*,
We’re so excited to let you know that we’re on the verge of making history by passing the country’s first geofence warrant ban here in New York! But to get across the finish line, we need your help.
As we’ve explained before, geofence warrants let police track thousands of New Yorkers with a single court order, searching an area as small as a single room, or as large as a city. We’ve worked for years to get S.217 / A.3306 enacted into law, banning geofence warrants completely. Even more, the legislation would stop police from buying location data. Alarmingly, today the courts hold that our Constitution simply doesn’t apply when police purchase data instead of getting a warrant. But we can end this abuse.
