38 Civil Rights Groups Hold Albany Day Of Action To ‘Ban Big Brother’ Surveillance
(NEW YORK, NY, 5/18/2023) – On Tuesday, May 23rd from 11 AM – 4 PM EST the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project (S.T.O.P.) will be available for comment about its Albany day of action to support “Banning Big Brother: New York’s Surveillance Sanctuary State Blueprint,” an anti-surveillance legislative package now co-sponsored by 38 leading racial justice, civil rights, and privacy organizations. The ten-bill package includes first-in-the-nation bans on geofence warrants and fake police social media profiles. S.T.O.P. will be visiting the New York State Capitol to discuss the legislative package with New York State Senate and Assembly offices throughout the day.
