Before you claim your spot on the couch for Thanksgiving, we want to take a moment to thank you for all your support this year.

With your help, S.T.O.P. kicked off several major developments in 2023. We launched two legislative campaigns, revving the engine in our fight against dystopian technologies. “Banning Big Brother” presented first-in-the-nation bans on geofence warrants and fake police social media profiles in New York. We then took on facial recognition with proposed bans in New York City for our “Ban The Scan” campaign. Next, we faced off with corporate America in two separate class action lawsuits alleging that Starbucks and Amazon failed to inform customers their biometric data was being collected using Amazon’s “Just Walk Out” technology. Our work continued in the public sector when we revealed MTA contracts with the artificial intelligence firm Awaait and sued the NYPD for their failure to respond to over 42,000 Freedom of Information Law requests. Lastly, using a bill that S.T.O.P. helped draft, California Legislators banned “excited delirium” as a cause of death. We plan to build off this win through the new year!
