*|MC:SUBJECT|*
Friend,

With summer winding down, we’re excited to kick off fall with a slew of exciting events in September. We’re hosting panels on topics ranging from the latest Big Tech boondoggles to the role of artists in the fight against mass surveillance:

Fire and Fury, Throwing a Monkey Wrench at Big Tech!

Wednesday, September 15, 12-8 PM

Hosted by Ethics in Technology, “Fire and Fury” will bring together prominent activists and community leaders from around the country to discuss what matters most as it relates to surveillance, war, and peace. Catch Albert Fox Cahn’s panels at 1:40 PM and 3:00 PM.

The Normalizing Gaze - Art, Artists, & Conflict

Thursday, September 16, 6-7:30 PM

Our online speaker series hosted with NYC’s High Line Art returns! Join three amazing artists in conversation on artists’ roles, responsibilities, and tactics around presentations and examinations of conflict. Featuring Coco Fusco, Naeem Mohaimien, and Sam Durant, whose sculpture “Untitled (drone)” is currently on display at NYC’s High Line (see: above image). Moderated by High Line Art’s Melanie Kress.

Unfinished Live – The Future Is Decentralized

Thursday, September 23, 11 AM - Friday, September 24, 5 PM

United by the possibilities of a new digital era, this virtual and in-person festival will explore the radical changes coming to the future of work and money, empowering new solutions to data privacy, disinformation and more. Featuring Albert Fox Cahn for an event that will recognize S.T.O.P. and our work.

The Normalizing Gaze - Digital Sanctuary Cities: Surveillance, Immigration, and Protecting Black Dissent

Wednesday, September 29, 6-7:30 PM

Our next online speaker event hosted with High Line Art untangles the labyrinth of agencies, individuals, and surveillance technologies that make up U.S. border surveillance. Featuring Jacinta González (Mijente), Carin Kuoni (Vera List Center for Art and Politics, The New School), and Mizue Aizeki (Immigrant Defense Project).
We can’t wait to see you at one (or all!) of these discussions soon. For more information on events at S.T.O.P., click here.
