Aly Panjwani - Policy & Advocacy Manager
Aly Panjwani is the Policy & Advocacy Manager at S.T.O.P. He is also an inaugural Take Back Tech Fellow with Just Futures Law & Mijente, where he works to end the use of surveillance technologies that facilitate ICE’s policing, detention, and deportation machine. Additionally, Aly leads programming across the country for Muslim high school and college students, centering youth voices and designing curricula to enhance political and religious education.

Eleni Manis, PHD, MPA - Research Director
Eleni Manis is Research Director at S.T.O.P., where she designs and coordinates the work of the S.T.O.P. research team. Ms. Manis joins S.T.O.P. after working on government agencies’ technology policies at the NYC Mayor’s Office of the Chief Technology Officer and the NYC Mayor’s Office of Operations, where she analyzed legislation on emerging technologies, authored the City’s reply to FCC broadband decisions, and did research for the nation’s first automated decision systems task force.

Justin Sherman - Technology Advisor
Justin Sherman is a Technology Advisor at the Surveillance Technology Oversight Project. He is also Co-Founder and Senior Fellow at Ethical Tech at Duke University, a nonpartisan student-faculty initiative, where he previously led research, events, and policy education programs on cybersecurity, privacy, and artificial intelligence. William Owen - Communications Associate
Will Owen is S.T.O.P.’s Communications Associate. He previously served as the Agency Marketing Manager of The Kinetix Group, a New York-based healthcare marketing agency and consultancy. He has also contributed to various local news publications in Brooklyn and his native Washington, D.C., including Greenpointers and The Washington Blade, the oldest LGBTQ newspaper in the U.S..

Caroline Magee is a 3L at the Emory University School of Law with an M.A. in International Relations from the University of St Andrews in Scotland.

Outreach Intern
Francis Northwood is a 4th-year undergraduate at Pomona College studying Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. His interests lie at the junction of legal philosophy, organizing, tech justice, and medical ethics.

Civil Rights Intern
John Clayton is a 3L at Columbia Law School. A Philadelphia-area native, John graduated from Syracuse University and worked as a journalist before pursuing his legal studies.

Kyto Batt previously served as a financial research intern for Gretchen Driskell’s Congressional campaign and a field intern for several local campaigns in New York City.

Luke Meares is a 4th-year undergraduate at Pomona College studying Politics and Media Studies. He has experience working with media in both congressional campaigns and federal government offices.

Naz Akyol is a rising 3L at NYU Law School where she served as the Co-President of NYU Law Women. She was born and raised in Ankara, Turkey before coming to the U.S. to attend college at Brown University.

Paige Hanoka
Development Intern
Paige Hanoka is a third-year undergraduate at New York University studying Data Science and Sociology. Before S.T.O.P, Paige worked at the Open Insulin Lab in Oakland developing open-source technology.

Shanzay Pervaiz
Civil Rights Intern
Shanzay Pervaiz is a 3L at University of Miami School of Law. She currently serves as the Vice President of the South/West Asian and North African Law Students Association and Chief Notes and Comments Editor for the University of Miami Race and Social Justice Law Review.
