Friend,
As you pack your bags to visit loved ones or run to the grocery store for last-minute ingredients, we hope to reach you with our thanks before you unplug for the holiday.
With your help, S.T.O.P. made enormous strides against mass surveillance this year. In January, we launched “Ban the Scan” with Amnesty International to outlaw facial recognition in New York and four other cities across the globe. This summer, we revealed more than a quarter billion dollars in NYPD surveillance contracts that were hidden from New Yorkers for decades. In the fall, we hosted a national convening to determine how cities can harness new technologies without harming our neighbors. And throughout 2021, we pushed government officials to prioritize vaccine access – rather than apps – so we could safely reunite with family and friends this week.
Whether you donated to our campaigns, attended our virtual events, shared our work on social media, or volunteered with us, your support is what we’re most thankful for here at S.T.O.P.
With 2022 on the horizon, we look forward to all we’ll accomplish together. And if you’re able to give this end-of-year, you can double your impact: from now until December 31, donations will be doubled thanks to a dollar-for-dollar match from several generous funders.
