Friend,
I know S.T.O.P. has shared a lot of good news recently, but this week is something very special.
First, on Wednesday, Mayor de Blasio signed the POST Act into law. This bill was our lead legislative priority since we were founded, and a historic moment for the broader effort to dismantle NYPD surveillance
And then, just yesterday, another remarkable milestone. I’m incredibly proud to announce that S.T.O.P. received a $245,000 grant from the Open Society Foundations, a leading global philanthropy. Of course, I’m excited to see our funding grow, helping us bring on more staff and take on new work. But I’m even more excited to have this endorsement from one of the world’s most prestigious and selective funders.

S.T.O.P. continues to expand faster than I ever dreamed, but we’re nowhere near done. We’re scaling up because the threat from invasive surveillance technology is only growing. But none of this would have been possible without those of you in our founding circle of donors, who gave what you could last year to help us launch the organization. This grassroots funding is essential to our work, and we remain incredibly grateful for your ongoing trust and support.
With thanks,
Albert Fox Cahn, Esq.
