Aparna peters, Esq - Board Secretary (Former)
Aparna Peters, Esq. is a Civil and Commercial Litigator with over a dozen favorable verdicts over the course of her career. Before joining the S.T.O.P Board of Directors, she was a Civil Rights Attorney, focusing on Title VII discrimination cases, First Amendment Constitutional Law issues, and government surveillance and privacy rights. She has also litigated under the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act and the Anti-Terrorism Act. Aparna has spoken widely on civil liberties law, including leading trainings with the New York County Bar Association. She has been named a Civil Rights Super Lawyer Rising Star in 2017 and 2018.
Aparna is currently In-House Counsel for a national ambulatory medical practice, responsible for its IP management, including its copyrights and trademarks licensing and litigation, real estate transactions, corporate filings, regulatory compliance, investments and asset purchases, and other litigation.
Aparna was an Associate in the Law firm of Omar T. Mohammedi and Finkelstein & Partners. Prior to becoming an attorney, she served as a contracts manager, grant writer, and advocate for the Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania, a non-profit healthcare organization. She holds a J.D. and B.A. from Penn State University. In addition to her current legal and policy advocacy work, Aparna is an elected committee member of the Kings County Democratic Party and an avid amateur astronomer.
